Washington, D.C. – While Republicans are desperately trying to dodge accountability for their support of the Trump-Musk agenda to steal from programs Americans rely on to pay for tax cuts for billionaires, their constituents aren’t taking no for an answer. All across the country, Americans participated in town halls, rallies, and protests to demand their members of Congress listen to their concerns and stop putting their billionaire donors ahead of their own constituents.
See below for highlights from local coverage of the pressure House Republicans faced from their constituents this recess:
-
AZ-01, Rep. Dave Schweikert – Protest: “About 30 demonstrators gathered Thursday outside Schweikert’s office at the southwestern corner of Northsight Boulevard and Raintree Drive in Scottsdale, holding signs criticizing President Donald Trump, his billionaire adviser Elon Musk, and their rapid overhaul of the federal government and cuts to numerous agencies.”
-
AZ-06, Rep. Juan Ciscomani – Town Hall: “Although Representative Juan Ciscomani did not attend the town hall organized by his constituents, neighbors from his district still took the stage to discuss their concerns about federal job cuts and potential spending cuts to Medicare and Medicaid.”
- AZ-06, Rep. Juan Ciscomani – Protest: “Hundreds of people in Tuscon are trying to send a message to Representative Juan Ciscomani. They held a protest against the Trump administration, outside of Ciscomani’s office, hoping he would join them in standing up to the cuts by the Department of Government Efficiency.”
- CA-22, Rep. David Valadao – Protest: “Bakersfield nurses were protesting at Rep. David Valadao’s office Thursday morning against the proposed cuts to Medicaid. They are urging him to vote against a GOP-led budget proposal that would cut funding for essential medical programs, including Medicaid and SNAP.”
- IA-01, Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks – Town Hall: “100 people packed a community room at the Davenport public library on Fairmount Street. That didn’t include Senators Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley, or Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks. […] People asked questions about the state of the federal government to three empty chairs. Topics included Social Security office changes, DEI rollbacks, VA services, and DOGE cuts.”
- MI-07, Rep. Tom Barrett – Town Hall: “Barrett is one of many Republican representatives who avoided in-person meetings after angry voters flooded town halls during the first congressional recess. - MI-10, Rep. John James – Protest: “More than a hundred people held up signs and protested along Van Dyke in Warren […] They say they want answers, or at least a presence from Republican Congressman John James […] They’re concerned by the cuts being made by the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency.”
- NY-17, Rep. Mike Lawler – Protest: “People in Westchester calling on lawmakers to protect health care programs from planned federal cuts. Protesters gathered in Patriots Park in Tarrytown to fight efforts by House Republicans to pass a budget that would cut trillions of dollars to programs like Medicaid and SNAP.”
- PA-01, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick – Rally: “Voters in Bucks County held a rally demanding Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick push back against the Trump administration’s federal funding cuts and mass firings.”

[…] They said Perry was invited to the town hall but did not show.”
- VA-02, Rep. Jen Kiggans – Protest: “Protests against the Trump administration’s policies and mass layoffs continue. Federal workers, union representatives, and allies gathered in Virginia Beach Saturday for the protest… An invite was extended to Representative Jen Kiggans but she was not present.”
- WI-03, Derrick Van Orden – Town Hall: “People who live in Wisconsin’s third congressional district say they’re worried about recent federal changes and proposals for more changes. Their representative, Derrick Van Orden isn’t holding in-person town halls right now […] One topic that came up was education and the Trump administration’s plans to cut the US Department of Education.”
